Overview

Paying employees or suppliers just got a lot easier. Corporate Mobile Money customers can now make bulk payments to several other registered Mobile Money users over the MTN network.

Bulk Payments can reduce errors or fraud in pay-outs and provide safe, instant and direct payments to employees directly to their phones – no need for the receiver to set up a bank account!

Costs

The sender will be charged K.25 per person, per bulk payment, no matter the amount or the number of receivers.

Sign Up

To register, you will need to sign up with MTN Mobile Money and present copies of the following documentation:

  • A written request for the service
  • PACRA Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Registration
  • Copy of Company Director’s identity document
  • Completed forms provided by MTN
  • ZRA Compliance Certification such as TPIN Number, VAT Registration Number or PAYE Certificate
How it Works

  1. Contract agreement between MTN Mobile Money and Client is signed.
  2. Client is assigned web portal interface and Bulk Payment account is opened
  3. Access to portal/account is restricted. Client has to submit names of people to have access. Each one is given unique ID and Password. Access rights are divided between Initiator and Approver. Each with their own functions.
  4. Client prefunds account before making disbursements
  5. Payment Initiator logs in and uploads payment file. Once done, rights are surrendered to Approver
  6. Approver opens file and previews. If comfortable, they approve. If not, they cancel.
  7. If approved, recipient immediately receives a notification via SMS stating that they have received come money. They chose to use the money for any of the services or withdraw from any authorised agent
